Mystic Critters

My friend Dan has a Rap outfit he calls Mystic Hipsters. That was part of the inspiration for the name for this show. Come to think of it, Dan is kind of a critter. Speaking of critters, there's a bear taking pictures of the wildlife, but honestly Bigfoot is having a bad hair day. In fact he's singing a rambling blues balled about it to the apples swinging in the trees. I'd like to address the question of what kind of toothpaste beavers use, but I was warned against such nonsense. I had a dream about a cat in a coonskin cap in a canoe, and don't let anyone tell you that dreams don't come true.
I hope you like the paintings and things I've been working so hard on for a couple months now. The totem pole is almost done and there are about 30 new 3D paintings for your thirsty little eyeballs. Come by and I'll tell you a story. @Screaming Sky Gallery Opening May 31st, 5-9 pm Show runs May 31st to June 24th 2012

That's my ride, Bro

"That's my Ride Bro" is a radicle collection of paintings and sculptures inspired by the custom van culture. Weather it's a diamond shaped bubble window, a painting of majestic bear nursing a human baby on the side, or even the Bookmobile, a custom van is a beautiful thing. Come see "That's my Ride Bro" and renew your love of the van. Oh and don't forget the Microbus is a van too.

How to Paint a Van or Goodbye Ugly Owls

After I get an ugly plaque from a thrift store it goes something like this...
I sand down the owls and paint the background.

Then I spray paint the outline of a van and paint a crisp white image of a van..

Then I paint the basic colors of the van..

I add a sasquatch and a painting of a deer..

I add another bigfoot and some details..

Then I finish it up.

Hey! First Friday in April 2012 I'm having a group show at Grass Hut and this will be in it unless greater forces decide otherwise.
Stay tuned for details.

Bird head Taxidermy

I started out whittling the rough shapes of these bird heads, then I cut their eyes out of popsicle sticks. I know it sounds gruesome but it was really more like I gave them sight. Read it again if you still think that.

The penut in this picture is an ovesized replica of a penut the birds are actualy about 5 inches tall.
After painting the eyes I attached them with some elmers, drilled a hole, cut off the legs of an old fashioned close pin, and voila, a beak. After that I painted them at a listening party and craft get together that Destination DIY put on at a crafting event, and attached them to some plaques I got at Scrap.

They are hanging at Crafty Wonderlands new shop right next door to there old shop (who do they think they are, starbucks? Note: CW is not Starbucks, they just MOVED next door, and they don't even sell coffee.)
